Guys, you must have forgotten this story. It’s a bit old.
If you can recall, we had once brought you a sad story of how a Lagos-based
human right activist and popular social commentator, Kunle Fadipe and his
mother-in-law, Mrs Ceceila Owolabi was attacked and killed at his resident in
Harmony Estate, College Road in Ifako Ijaiye, Lagos on the 3rd of
July, 2014 by a 24-year-old man, Seun Oladikpo. If you missed it, here is the
summary……………….
On the day of the incident, the slain lawyer was said to
have asked his son to turn on a generator set after a power outrage in the
area. The Suspect had emerged from the dark, armed with a knife and ordered Fadipe’s
son to lead him to his father. After
making a series of demands from the deceased, he was said to have stabbed him
in the neck and on his back. He was said to have injured the deceased’s son and
stabbed his mother-in-law in the breast. The suspect was said to have attacked
other family members before he was overpowered by security men in the
community. Fadipe died on the day of the attack while his mother in-law was
said to have died few days after from the injuries sustained during the attack.
Yesterday, he was arraigned by the Police before a Yaba
Chief Magistrate’s court on seven counts of murder and attempted murder. Part
of his charge sheet reads that he unlawfully killed Kunle Fadipe by stabbing
him with a knife all over his body; he unlawfully killed Cecelia Owolabi by
stabbing her with a knife. The offences were punishable under sections 295, 288
and 221 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2011.
The defendant was remanded in prison and case adjourned to
November 8, 2014 for legal advice.
